Ihr Team Dietrich's Online - Holzbau ist unser Programm

    Hallo RedGre,

Also ist VRML eindeutig vorzuziehen.

Problems during Installation of the current Hardlock Drivers in Windows XP Service Pack 2 or due to automatic Windows Update.

    The following solution is suggested:

    1. Open C:\ root directory in Explorer
    2. Remove the read-only attribute of the file boot.ini
    3. In boot.ini change the entry "OptIn" to "AlwaysOff"
    4. Restart your computer
    5. Install Hardlock Driver

Meanwhile the Hardlock provider Aladin issued an update.
    HASPDINST.EXE solves the problem too.
    You can find it here.

Does this mean if you post an image to say your own website and then use that address in between the display img codes it will display in the post?

Absolutely correct. If you have webspace and put an image there you can show the image in your posts by entering the image location link.
The same will work with images that you will soon be able to upload to your own gallery in our FIX user forum.

    Hi Jim,

It would be interesting to see what you are trying to do there. I have a faint idea what the joint you want to do looks like.

Therefore we are working on the possibiility for each user to upload a gallery of his drawings.

The SmartTag is in the make and will be posted shortly.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi Jim,

even if the connection you describe looks like a teon, it isn't for our program.
Tenons in D-CAM are always perpendicular to the flanks of the tenon.
On a pitch of 12/12 this works all right. On any other pitch it will not.

I your case you can create the tenon by cutting away two end lap joints to leave the shape of the tenon in the center. The mortise, or fork, you can then create using the notch function and the side surface of the tenon.

I already thought of making a SmartTag for this connection. I'll post it once it's finished.

    With kind regards,

We have a report of this error in our database.

It seems you lose the position info if you exit without saving and click YES when asked if you want to save your changes.

If you save 1-1-3 before exiting the program this should not happen.
We are working on ironing this glitch out.

    @Jim
You are right, this is the english forum. Everybody who (sort of) speaks english is welcome to join.
(I hope you don't kick me out now :grinning_squinting_face: )
For the others we have forums in German, and soon will have Italian and French.

    Regards,

Off course VRML is a 3D application like any other one. The limitations in size are defined by hardware rather than software.
Bigger files can take longer to load. Also there is a setting in Cortona that loads the entire model, with textures and all, before it shows it on screen. Moving around in the model is rather fast after that. Other settings allow to show the model in stages until you can actually move it around. Loading time is the same, it only appears faster if something is happening on screen.

2MB doesn't seem too big to me, even if it may take a couple of minutes to load. Michael is right, as VRML starts to look on D-CAM's YoZ Plane in negative X dirextion. If your model doesn't begin at origin, but is some distance away from that, it might end up in a corner of the screen, and even behind your view point.
Also eye's height is by default set to 0.0, so it looks like you are crawling on the floor.

At the moment VRML is at a stage where you can get a model out quickly. Off course there are many features we can add in future to make it more convenient and versatile. At the moment though we have to concentrate on the design part.

    Regards,

You're very welcome. You might want to check once in a while for new releases of the Program, since we are not done developing it yet. (Some projects you never finish ... there is always room for improvement. ;) ) I will also drop a note in this forum if there is a new release for download.

Hi Jim, please ask your clients to download D-CAD Viewer again from our web page. I suspect that they are using an older version than yours. We made some changes concerning multiline text boxes, that could cause the problem you described. If that doesn't work please send one of your drawing files to me or to our hotline, we'll take a closer look.

We believe in what we started 20 years ago an embrace between TRADITION and TECHNOLOGY. Carpentry is an old art, which is deeply rooted in European tradition. Many styles, designs and construction techniques derive from the profound knowledge of wood as a building material: How to treat it, How to work with it, How to preserve it. The complex geometry of the beams and joints require experience and good three-dimensional imagination. Modern technology can assist the carpenter and give him the possibility to do even fancier and more complex designs. The combination of powerful, specialised applications for timber frame design, good shop drawings, excellent hand tools and the skilled hands of a carpenter are the ideal base for beautiful, functional and lasting construction. Dietrich’s was the first company to make design software especially for wood construction. In 1982, long before the first Hundegger machine, Josef Dietrich developed the first programs to help German carpenters calculate roof shapes, angles and cuts. Since then, Dietrich’s has become the biggest provider of timber frame design software in Europe. Continuous development, long experience and the love for the craft have helped to make the most up-todate timber frame software on the market.

Hello Folks, this forum is open for you to discuss you details with other craftsmen and craftswomen all over the world. The Dietrich's User Community is the biggest database for experiences and knowledge in timber building that you can imagine. :exclamation_mark: Have fun with Tech Talk. :grinning_squinting_face:

    Welcome to the Forum.

Our user pages moved to a new format with new exciting features and more options to exchange your thoughts and ideas. As with any community we have a couple of simple rules I would like to ask you to obey.

    Be nice and courteous!
'Please', 'Thank You' and a little patience with rookies are easy enough. Compliments are better sent as Privte Messages, insults don't belong here at all. If something bothers you, take it easy, most of the time it's just a missunderstanding.

    Look first, ask later
Please use the search function to look for answers to your questions before posting them. If you find what you are looking for you saved time and effort for yourself and others.

    Find the right Forum
To add some structure we have sub-sections for each aspect. Find the right place for your questions and you are more likely to get a quick and good answer.

    Clear Subject
In order to get a response that actually matches your problem give your thread a clear title. Things like HEEEELLLLLPPPPP!! are not very usefull. Also they make things harder to find for people who have the same problem.

    Questions
Please bear in mind that people voluntarily share their knowledge with you. The better you discribe your problem the bigger are the chances for qualified help. Watch out for spelling, structure your questions in sentences with point and comma.

    Answers
Only reply to questions you are intersted in and actually have to say something about. Single line hints usually lead to more questions. Good and detailed descriptions usually help more than just one person. Also they have a chance of beeing added to the FAQ.
In some cases additions to answers are helpful and necessary. Beeing extra smart and adding unnecessary stuff to a proppely answered problem is rude and doesn't help anyone.

    Feed Back
Off course you can ask for more detailed info. 'Thank you for your help' shows others that the reply was good and helpful. Please suggest to add very helpful comments to the FAQ.

    Tit for Tat
Try to find questions you can help with. A community is bidirectional and lives thorugh it's participants.

    Quotes
To keep things short and simple use quotations as little as possible. Use abbreviations or abstracts instead.

    Signature
The signature including greetings can only be four lines long. Better reduce to two lines. They must not contain any links or pictures.

    Forbidden Content
Forbidden are discriminating, violent, pornographic, offensive or illigal messages and links to pages of such content.
Links that don't belong to the topic or commercial links are also prohibited.

These rules should work as a guideline for a succuessfull community, and should not be matter of discussion. If you have objections or questions though send a Private Message.

    Welcome to the community.
