Hi zemepan - I am using an ATI Mobility FireGL V3200 card (128MB) with Window XP on my laptop - it works fine for most projects but does slow a little for larger designs - hope this helps

Thanks for the help Planer - your correct the software does a very good job and certainly exceeds our requirements

No - don't need that kind of tolerance but it is just the fact that the software is round up / down measurements - just wanted to know it it was an in built setting or something that could be modified - cheers
-
Thanks Planer - have just put the timbers in and specified the length I want
On another note I entered the length of 924.25mm (the measurement tool confirmed this) but the object info box has rounded to 924.2mm

Hi
I'm working in free design and have two timbers meeting - I want to produce a 0.5mm gap between them which means taking 0.25mm off each beam - the smallest allowable cut seems to be 0.301mm. Is there a setting that limits this smallest cut dimension and does it automatically round up / down to the nearest 0.3mm on other cuts?
I am trying to account for timber swelling (due to moisture) tolerances along a length in the design which is why the dimension is small. I have never noticed this before - does anyone have any suggestions?
Cheers, Mike

That make sense - I always keep my desktop clear and delete all the shortcuts - I will try that on future updates
Thanks

Thanks Der_Planer / Jens
Jens - When I installed the update I tried to make a parallel installation but a warning flagged up a saying it could not find any previous versions and I had to make a new installation. I also had this problem going from Ver 5.12 to Ver 6 - its no problem as I keep a list of files to copy over (apart from the aforementioned!!!)

Hi All, Since updating I have lost the standard beam settings (see attached) and I cannot remember which file I need to copy  Can someone please jog my memory, Cheers

Hi – the easiest way I’ve found to do this is to create the profile in the material database (as Thorvald says) but it is especially helpful if you want to use the profile for future projects – the main problem is getting curves on the profile. I make this up with a series of small straight lines.

Cheers Joachim, will keep that in mind

 Knew it had to be a setting somewhere I'd missed
Thanks Der_Planer

Hi All
Am now working fully with Version 5.04 and have to say that being able to see the drill hole rather than the dotted line is great
......... BUT (as there always is) the hole disappears if I use a drill size of 12.001mm or less and leaves me with the dotted line again
. This means I cannot display 10mm, 8mm etc drill holes. Is this a minimum default in the software or is there anything I can alter to display the smaller holes?
Cheers

Hi All,
Here are a few items to add to the wish list that I have come accross that I think some users might benefit from:
• Being able to show openings as oppose to doors on Ground Plan – currently have to explain that it is an opening and not a door!
• Being able to manually name the MOS layers
• Able to set a blank MOS layer to ‘current’ – for example when inserting timbers directly onto a blank MOS layer – currently for the layer to be active there has to be an object on it
• Storing / saving manual names for beams in the description list
• Importing DXF 2D drawings directly into the Material Database – I have a large database and will be very time consuming transferring / drawing this into Dietrich’s
• Having the ability to draw curved profiles into the material database without having to break the curve into lines myself – for example a Torus skirting board – I am not able to display this accurately in an OpenGL render
• With respect to log cabins / homes – being able to auto define best fit log length with regard the raw material length – for example drawing from point to point a length of 20 metres but the log automatically split cuts at 6 metre intervals
Parts from other peoples wish lists that would be extremely helpful:
• Time tracker would be a great help
• To be able to have OpenGL and the D-CAM model open at the same time and be able to jump from one to the other
• When saving pictures or areas in OpenGL it would be useful to have a list of previously saved images appear before assigning a name to your storage
• To be able to zoom with the wheel mouse in D-CAM
I would just like to reiterate the thanks for all the great features already in place
Mike
