Hey Steve,
That would actually be a connector tag that you're looking for. To create smart-tags and connector-tags you need D-CAM Premium.
With or without D-CAM Premium you need to create the custom connector manually the first time. Then you need to create any cuts or drillings that the connector will make. If you do not have Premium you can easily transfer the processes as a #4 processes to the connector and store it in the Wall Macro or the D-CAM library. Once you position the connector you can automatically create all the processes using 3-1-9.
The "Truss Design" module would work great for this situation.
You can also simply rotate the beams to the desired angle using 2-04-* in D-CAM.
Hi Peter,
When I export your beams I also get the extra lines. The extra lines are coming from the tenon. I deleted the end tenon and made it new with the exact same settings using the beta version and did not have any extra lines once in sketchup. Not sure why the lines are appearing but they dont seem to be happening when I use the latest beta version.
Peter,
Attach the Dietrich's file so we can have a look at the processes.
Peter,
I tried your drawing with the current version 9 and the beta version and the hatching works correctly with both versions.
I think I remember you had said you ended up doing a new installation as well so we both should have the same versions.
Maybe Wil can send you an update and see if that fixes the problem.
Use "Meters" when importing in Sketchup and you should be good to go.
The dna hidden layer is automatically created to organize the hidden lines if you use the sketch option in dcam. If you don't use the sketch option in dcam there will be no dna hidden layer when you bring the objects into 2d.
Kayaker,
I'm actually not sure what you were having trouble with nor what procedure you went through?
Sketch an object in D-Cam in an isometric view and bring it into 2D and you will have a "dna hidden" layer.
Kayaker,
What's the trouble?
Peter,
I cannot reproduce the error you are having. When I bring an object into 2D and turn off the "dna hidden" layer I can hatch using internal point to the correct outline. It also works correct when I draw manual lines on different layers and hatch with one of the layers turned off.
Hi Kayaker,
This problem is related to the same issue we previous discussed. It has been fixed and will work correctly with the next update.
Right click on the line and select "properties". Is the line wieght set to "by layer"?
Ok, after I used it once it did exactly what you have shown.
If you reselect the "Template" drop down window it refreshes correctly. You don't have to change anything else.
Did you get it to work? I can see that the preview picture is incorrect for you but when you input the window was it correct?
I entered the same info as you and it worked fine.
When I draw on 24"x36" I use the North American standard line weights and text height:
0.28 = thick line / foreground
0.01 = thin line / background / dimensions
3/32" = small text
1/8" = medium text
1/4" = large text
Shop drawings on 11x17 I use:
0.007 = all lines
0.002 = hidden lines
0.004 = dimensions
I use all black except sometimes I use red on the dimensions for shop drawings.
Not sure if this helps but below is a video of a smart-tag I created for a client. The smart-tag was created to suit the needs of the client and can be applied to all members at the same time.
When outputting the drawing did you select a "drawing template" or did you leave the setting to "none"? If you did not select a drawing template you need to open a new drawing in 2D and use 1-2 "insert stored image".
