Ihr Team Dietrich's Online - Holzbau ist unser Programm

Yeah - I'd like to get the newest version of Dietrichs. The feature of being able to open other positions even other projects in other windows, could be quite useful sometimes + a lot of other things I know have come in newer versions. But the financial situation is still not the best - but the main problem is that the longer we wait the more expensive it gets to upgrade to the newest version from version 7. Upgrading from version 7 to version 10, that soon comes would cost 75% of the most expensive of our licenses (mine...) - if I am not mistaken.

Well - it almost worked, but only almost. The positions with the single modules was recovered (but the position info was deleted). The 7th position, where the modules was assembled to the house, was damaged it seemed. When I try to open that position I get the message "Program version too old. The building cannot be opened." But the other positions, I can open.

I think I will go back to the project as I recovered it before, and just start over at assembling the house.

Ok, I can try that. If it fails, I have today almost recovered most of the project. Because I had building library files of the positions (modules in the house) - so these positions was pretty easy to recover, by deleting the project (after copy the whole directory to another place), making new project and copying the .zbi files and use them to insert in positions. But the position where the house was assembled (40 apartments) is of course slightly more to recover. So I can make a backup copy of the project I have now and try your method to see of the whole projects recovers. If not, then it doesn't take long time to put the modules together to create the house to the status it where, when it crashed.

    Hi.

I was finished working on the projectm closed it, because I needed to check a hight in another project. When I wanted to open that other project, the computer froze as it does from time to time, but not very often. Ok, I turned it off and on again - and then this error appeared, when I try to open the project I was working on. I have never seen this kind of error before. It doesn't appear with any other projects and the files in Dietrichs looks pretty much ok (I mean they doesn't seem to be deleted for example).

Aaah allright, I understand a bit better now.

But it would still be a nice option to have in for example the ground floor module, that when you delete walls, you can select multiple of them for deletion.

    Hi.

When one deletes walls in groundplan, one has to delete the walls singlewise. Is this the only possible way to delete walls? Or is there another option, where one can delete multiple walls in one go?? (with or without construction objects - in this case I have deleted all construction objects in the walls first, with D-Cam, trying to make the heavy model lighter to work in - but it didn't help much).

    Hi.

I think we will agree that when showing a building in OpenGL, it is the GPU that has the most important role in how big projects can be shown.

What about when working in the different modules in the program, i.e. wall module, ceiling, ground plan. What does this require from the computer? CPU power?, ram?, GPU?

    Hi.

Did any of you try to get into the situation, where you had a project of a size that reached the limit of what your computer was capable of? It is probably not easy to tell, if a project have x number of walls, then the computer must minimum have Y CPU, Z GPU and W Ram. But maybe it could be possible to get an idea of it if people have experienced projects to be so big that the computer's limit was reached.

For example I have a project, with 886 walls into it + perhaps 410 ceilings + etc. This project is only for 3D presentation, so the walls have mainly been made with panels and ceilings is just ceiling volumes + of course what else it takes to make the building look real from outside. But for example when I delete a wall, it takes 2-3 minutes for each walls, and since I am going to make a new version of the building, I have quite some walls to delete (not all of them, but many of them).

If (or perhaps when), I am going to make the building as a construction project, I am sure my computer won't be powerful enough to handle it. With wood constaructions in many of the walls and ceilings, it will quickly become too heavy. Of course you can always divide the project in smaller parts (positions), but that is not the point. Because at some point you'd want to assemble the project to make sure everything fits together and to make the parts that you need to make in the full building.

So any experiences with projects reaching the limit of your computers capability?? And what was the computers capability, i.e. CPU, GPU and ram?
