Hi.
It seems like my snap options has gone. Normally I can snap to intersecting lines in one click, but this I can't do for the moment. I don't remember where are these settings???
- Oh I found it - under assisting geometry...

What is D-Cam points? Can they be (safely) deleted without destroying the 3D model in any way. And if it's ok to delete them, how is that done then?
Welcome to the wonderful world of Dietrichs... ![]()
- And it wasn't really sarcastic - I really like Dietrichs very much.
I think in the manual that Markus is going to send, there would be some tutorials - step by step. I am not sure if there are some online tutorials also.
Interesting suggestion - I did try anything else than plates. I will give that a try! ... ![]()
Hi.
I am trying to get that of the attached sketc, but the closest I get can be seen on attached pictures.
Why the bottom of the hip beam is not horizontal? Is there any ways to make what I want? It would be nice if it was possible to simply put in a completely rectangular piece of wood in the hip line, as you can in the ridge line.
Wow that is a long time ago, I had that error. I know about the solution to rename it - but I thought the error was gone in newer versions (even though I still have only version 7).
Yes - when you mirror a house - it can even be a complete house with ceilings and roof-constructions, made with ceiling areas and roof areas. Then everything is counted up - the wall numbering of the mirrored house is counted up, ceiling area numbers are counted up etc. And each and every piece of construction that you have put into your walls, ceilings and roofs are mirrored too. Very nice feature, if you have a house with apartments that are equal, but a mirrored copy from the left half part of the house.
Isn't it better to insert it directly from Excel? (copy / paste).
Ok then I see your point - if you can renumber the windows, so you know what order they are in, then you can easier find in groundplan, what window they are talking about.
But then there could be another option along with the possibility to renumber openings: As you in display style, can choose to show the wall numbers (and at the same time window numbers), it would be useful to be able to choose to show:
- only wall numbers
- only opening numbers
(and of course you can tick both to be shown)
- to show wall names
- to show opening names
Because then you have all the flexibility. If you want to see wall numbering, but you are not interested in opening numbers - but maybe you'd like to see wall numbers and opening names on your screen - then you can just choose these 2 options.
That could what should be written on the wishlist.
Aaaah, maybe I understand now. If you input an item in D-Cam it is input in the wall that is current. Then to make sure it will already be input in the correct wall or ceiling, you make the wall current first?
Aaahahahaha.... Because when I input windows in D-Cam, I have been irritating that they then belongs to some arbitrary wall. Then I had to select them and move them to belong to D-Cam objects. But if I make D-Cam the current first, then it would not be a problem...
Ok, that is one place where I would find it useful. Apart from that I do not use D-cam for inserting things. I use it for viewing and in some cases for manipulating with things (move, copy and stuff like that).
All right, then I learned something today also... ![]()
A normal user (i.e. with a structural engineering education or alike) should be able to retrieve such information. But of course it is not easy. If I got a project to be built in Portugal, then it would be difficult to retrieve the necessary information. So to have structural engineering program, where all this work have already been done for you and you basically just choose country, is of course number one, the best solution.
Well - to apply the program for a wider span of countries rules´, is of course quite a job. Making the program for Eurocodes could perhaps be easier - but there would still be a need to adjust for national annexes. This could be something that is up to the user to input (factors for loads and load combination). But then there are basic nature loads - snow and wind - and that is very different from country to country - so I can understand if it will take a while to implement it. - In Norway up to 800 kg/m2 and in Spain none? But I will look forward to it - I like the idea and concept of this type of structural calculation software.
Hmmm.... :-k But what is the purpose of using that function, making walls current in D-Cam?
But you get the window names on your paper floor plan? I am not sure what exactly it is that you want more?
Yes, but you can do it in Dietrichs before you output the machine files. That would be the normal way to do it.
I am fine - still going strong with work and Dietrichs.
As far as I know it is for now only available in German. Later it will be available for a wider span of countries. That is how I understood it. Until now you will also only find information about the program under the German language version of Dietrich webpage.
Hi.
You know that you can give door and window openings names? I do this, when I input "architect windows" and doors, t.ex. called F9X21 (width module 9 and height module 21 => 900x2100). Then these names fits with the architect's names on the architect plans, and you can get them on your drawing as well, when you make wall plans. It makes it easier to check if you have made the windows of correct size etc.
Hmm, sounds strange. I can do it with my BA walls as well as other walls. Aaah that was activating, try again. Ok, but that I can also do. Though - I don't see the purpose of doing it.
See my answer in the other thread.
