This function I will use when I assemble the two parts of the house into one model??

Hello.
For the convenience of work (and to avoid a chrash and delete all event) - I decided to split this 5 story house into two positions. One position with the first 3 stories and another position with the 2 top stories and roof.
And the I have made an empty position called "complete house". This position I will use to assemble the complete house for 3D viewing only. (If the computer have enough power to do so - we will see about that).
I don't remember exactly how to get the stories from the other positions into this position?
Will this position with the complete house link to the other 2 positions, so that changes made in these 2 positions will be updated in the complete model??

About ram: It seems like there would be no use to go for 8 GB ram. Dietrichs uses around 1-1,5 GB, so it would be better to go for 4 GB ram. With 8 GB ram one also have to use a 64 bit version of Windows.
About Graphic card: Can Dietrichs take advantage of 2 graphic cards in the computer? Would a quadro graphic card give excellent performance of Dietrichs, even with big models - or only as good as a 8800 geforce with as much ram as possible?
-
It seemed like it was the color settings in layers, that was changed somehow.

No I don't have function 1-04-4 in D-Cam. You can await a mail from me...

Jeg har modtaget en 3D model af en betontrappe, tegnet i AutoCad. Jeg skal så se om den passer ind i byggeriet og jeg har huset tegnet op i Dietrichs. Kan man importere denne trappe ind i min D.... Aaaarghh, I don't think you undertstand much of this...... #-o
I have received a 3D model of a concrete stair, made in AutoCad. I am supposed to check if it fits into the building, and I have made the house in Dietrichs. Is it possible to import this stair into my Dietrichs model??

Ok - no one seems to answer my last post
- but maybe I also got it right now. But I am still investigating what hardware should be inside a computer if / when I someday decide to buy a new computer - to get best performance from Dietrichs. Both when it comes to the speed of the program and when it comes to the OpenGL performance - even with large projects.Processor: I understand that Dietrichs have more need for memory than for processor. It can use multicores, but it can not take great advantage of quad core processors. So a fast dual core processor might give better performance and here, why not go for the fastest: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500, with 45 nm technology, 6 Mb level 2 cache, 1333 MHz front side bus and a clock speed of 3,16 GHz, and with Intel VT and Intel TXT technologies.
Ram: You are talking about that Ram is important. I think maybe this is both for system memory and for the amount of Ram in the graphic card. For system memory I would go for 8 GB Ram. Of course the faster Ram, the better, but t.ex. Kingston HyperX Ram as KHX:DDR2 or KHX:DDR3 would be perfect for Dietrichs??
Graphic card: I guess I could go for a NVidia graphic card with as much memory as possible. A possibility could be GeForce 8800GTX - 768MB - PCI E / Lownoise (SLI). I have been offered a computer configuration with 2 of these graphic cards on board. Would 2 graphic cards give better Dietrichs performance? Can Dietrichs use 2 graphic cards? Another possibility is the quadro graphic cards, that are developed to give excellent performance with AutoCad. What about Dietrichs - would a quadro graphic card give excellent performance or only as good as a Geforce 8800's???

I am just interested in the subject. So the program (also version 7.03) does use more than one core, if it is possible (and needed) for the program?
-
If one or more wall is equal or almost equal to another wall, it could be even more simple to use wall macro (1-5-1) and save the wall. If the wall is not completely equal to the saved wall timbers, then just insert the wall and adjust the wall timbers.
I don't know if this method will work in your case?
-
We use a second core if this makes sence and there is a technical possibility.
What you mean? Is the program, programmed to use more than one core or not - and then if the program needs more processor power it uses more than one core??
-
Does Dietrichs 7.03 actually use more than one core, if the processor is a multicore processor?? See my previous post.
-
Does this work with version 7.03?? It doesn't seem so on my laptop.

I am not sure if I understand what you say, Der_planer. In AutoCad you are simply asked if you want to keep original or delete, when t.ex. mirroring.
-
Hi.
The clip board copy function is quite nice. I would like to have the same possibility as in wall macro - to insert the copied items mirrored.
The edit/mirror function in PlanCad: When you mirror something it would be nice if the program asks if you want to keep original objects or if you want to delete original objects. Or maybe two mirror functions in the edit menu - one to keep original objects and one to delete original objects.
The mirror function is very good programmed - it mirrors measurements etc. correct - I don't think AutoCad can do that.

Hi - the first quote is from this post: Posted: 21am30UTC(21.04.2008 07:38.
So the thruth is that Dietrichs can benefit from multicore processors, and that Dietrichs is running on more than one core, if there are more than one available!!??
-
Zitat von Jens Krause
very few programs split up their calculations to different tasks, and Dietrich's does not, either. So we do not benefit from dual core or quad core technology.
First you said above - and now you say this:
Zitat von Jens KrauseOur Software is compatible with multi-core processors. We continually adapt our Software to the latest computer technologies and we have already made the necessary steps to divide our processes to several CPUs.
I am not sure about what you mean. I know that Dietrichs can run on a core 2 duo t.ex. But first you say that Dietrichs can't benefit from multicore processors and now you say it does?? Or maybe you say it is comming soon??
-
Ok, I understand that now. Will future updates of Dietrichs take the benefit to use more than one core in multicore processors??
-
So basically most programs uses only one of the cores in dual core, quad core processors?? And does that mean that with a 2,2 GHz quadcore the programs only take benefit from 0,55 GHz, and this is much lower than a 3GHz single core processor??
-
Ok - I will do that next time.

I am considering a new computer. I am interested in Acer Aspire Prestige series, t.ex. this one:
Acer Aspire M5100
AMD PHENOM 9500 Quad core (2,2 GHz)
4 GB DDR2 ram 667 MHz (4x1024 MB)
960 GB SATA Harddisk 7200 rpm.(3x320 GB)
GeForce 8600 GS 512/1278 MB
DVI, VGA. HDTV
LAN 10/100/100 WLAN 802.11 b/gWindows Vista Home Premium
Does Dietrichs take the benefits of a quadcore processor??
