    Zitat von Der_Planer

I don't know how asphalt shingles really look, but I guess this will do it.

    - unzip and extract the bmp file into the folder: \Dietr...\Gif\Freitext\...
    - rename it to "textur_1...9.bmp" (overwrite one of the existing)

Go back to roof calculation, make a new (or change an existing) roof definition, using the new texture.

If I overwrite one of the existing won't I loose the texture I'm overwriting? How about if I give it a new name before entering the folder?

    Hello Jens, Der_Planer,

Staying up late last night seems to have paid off. I now have what I was trying to accomplish! Now I need to change the roof surface to shingles. Der_Planer, your comments you made came in after I fixed my roof. After reading through your comments they make a lot of sense and will come in handy the next time I get stumped.

    Thank You!

    Hi Der_Planer,

That is how asphalt shingles look.... thanks! Did you by any chance see my attachment? I cannot get the roof surface to look like your earlier example / tutorial. My attachment shows a metal roof, I will change it to asphalt shingles but currently having problems with applying the roof surface properties. Attached are two views the JPG roof surface problem appears to be modeled correctly. When I apply roof surface properties to line 20 see attachment Problem Line 20 this is what I end up with. I'm lost. :? Can anyone please advise?

    Thanks!

    Hi Der_Planer,

I don't have this wonderful measuring tool available. At this point, I only need to do a presentation that could lead to a sale. Can I approach this cone shaped roof from another angle?

    Thanks!

There’s just no end! 8O ](*,) "For this project I collected 81 points, and measuring was complete in 12 minutes". Does this include setting up the tripod? ;) (o)

    Hi Der_Planer,

Viewing your model did you do all the modeling in D-Cam? I'm wondering if the segments (beams on top of the circular wall) were created in ground plan and the beams then entered in wall design. Was roof calculation / roof design used to create the cone shaped roof? I'm looking for a starting point as I am approaching trying to create a cone shaped roof.

    Thanks Jason,

What is happening I have two folders, one (mpb estimate) and one (mpb project) and I have project numbers of the same. Example in mpb estimate folder 00044 and 00044 in my project folder and the projects files are not related to one another. I discovered and didn't realize this until I was backing up to an external hard drive and it was asking me to overwrite the existing file. I had to be careful not to over write the file. Do you think it is dangerous having more than one folder? I hope your able to weed through this.

    Hello Again,

Thanks for the options. I know one thing; I don't want to go into another learning curve with another program. I'm still in the first curve with a long road ahead in learning Dietrich's an enjoyable journey I must say.

    Thanks!

    Der_Planer,

It appears I have 3D dxf export, I also have export (VRML) so do I really need Adobe-3D this must be a program for purchase and not a free down load? What is the advantage of Adobe 3D? I have not yet used export (VRML) I think clients can down load a viewer and then do a walk through?

    Thanks!

    Hi Der_Planer,

Awesome! Thanks for sharing your example. I see you converted the image to a PDF allowing me to view and rotate it. I have Adobe 8 professional. What do I need to be able to create viewable 3D PDF files?

    Respectfully!

    Hi Der_Planer,

It can be helpful in conveying design ideas especially when working with engineers on joinery details allowing them to see through the connection zone. Especially with engineers not having a solid back ground in timber engineering. By the way! Jason's advice works, command 5 while in open GL! I can't believe I missed command 5. Oh well. When I have time I might try your PhotoShop approach.
