Some numbers were changed as the program improved.
Steve, place the valley into the other rafter and use the birdsmouth cut and I may give you the "ear" you want.
Skype me if you need help.

Steve:
In my advanced help documents set there is a document that lists all these tags that the program uses in D-CAD 2d to auto insert information into your 2d drawing title boxes.
If I haven't emailed you the set then I can or just that document.
Just let me know via regular email. -
Which do you want to see? the hole or no hole?
It has to do with what type of drilling it is.
If you compare processes boxes you'll see that the drilling probably have a different process number type. Changing the process number will change whether or not you see the drilling. -
5-05-1 in Version 6.02 will do it also....

Here is a model I drew in Dietrich's(image A-1)
And the model I created from the drawings....(image A-37)And one shot I got from a friend who makes them for every frame he builds....(image 100---)

Ok, thank you.....

Thank you....

I'm trying to gather some information about timber frame scale models.
How many timber framers or timber framing companies are building scale models of their customers frames?
Thanks in advance.
Jim Rogers
PS. if someone could post this question on the German forum I'd be interested in hearing how many in Germany are doing this?

Maybe someone else has a better system that will help you.....
Good luck....

If you go to display setting 1-7-2 in D-CAM and change it to a value of 0.5 it will only move the view half a degree. But it will display whole degrees.
To understand that your view is 1/2 a degree, use your arrow buttons to move your view after pressing 7-1. The first move the number won't change the second time it will. So that means the first time it's at half a degree.
Try it.... -
In order for your drawings to come out to a standard architectural scale you have to set your D-CAD-2D drawing scale to the correct size.
For one quarter inch to equal one foot the scale has to be set at 48.
Here is why (12" / .25" = 48), which is ¼" goes into 12" forty-eight times.
Here are some standard scales settings.1/16" = 1' is 192
3/32" = 1' is 128
1/8" = 1' is 96
3/16" = 1' is 64
1/4" = 1' is 48
3/8" = 1' is 32
1/2" = 1' is 24
3/4" = 1' is 16
1" = 1' is 12
1 1/2" = 1' is 8
3" = 1' is 4So when you want your 2D drawing to equal a standard architectural scale you set it to one of these values in your drawing screen view port properties dialog box. To access this D-CAD-2D window settings box you use command number 7-1 (in D-CAD-2D) and it is in third box down labeled view port. And on the line labeled: scale (1/?):
I have several different templates set up for 2D drawings and each one can be at a different scale so that when you import a single beam drawing into a new drawing created from a template it comes in at the correct scale.
This way if someone in the field needs a dimension and it's not on the drawing they can measure the drawing using a scale ruler and get the answer they need.
If you need help understanding how to create template at a standard scale let me know and I'll help you. -
You may need to un-install and then do a "clean" install.
What I mean is disconnect from Internet, shut off your anti virus software, then re-install.
Sometimes anti virus software can cause problems. Also, a disk check or defrag could help.
Good luck and let us know what happens....
PS. be sure to turn your anti virus back on before you re-connect to the Internet....

When you want to unite two things you have to delete any processes listed in the process box to unite them.
For example, sometimes I like to show concrete walls or footings with my frames.
To create concrete footings you just draw them like timbers except you change the texture to concrete.
As shown in "a" below. Then you select each footing's processes box using 3-1-1 and delete any functions shown there. As shown in "b" below.
After you can unite using 2-7-2. As shown in "c" below.
So, if you want to unite two different size or shape objects you have to have no processes done to them first.
Good luck.

VRML export is a great way to view a frame/model....
You may need to teach a client how to use a viewer. There are free downloads of viewers that plug in to your standard Internet browser.
Hope this helps. -
Joe, to remove cuts or notches made with 2-7-1 use 3-1-8 machine only. But this will remove all of them from the entire beam/timber that you select....
-
That should be put in the folder: C:\DIETRICHS06\FRG\ENG, if I'm correct......

In previous versions you could connect a point to an object and then place that object in the library. Then install that object using that point as a handle for inserting.
Now with this version (6.01) inserting using the handle doesn't work. The position button doesn't seem to read the point.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem? -
It appears that my tools bars did not update when I loaded the new 6.01 as I did a parallel installation.
I think I need to correct this.....
Maybe this should be addressed in a future update that parallel installation should also update the tools bars. Can this be done? -
I just chose the color black for the road......
