Hi Kayaker,
You can also copy the line up to the point and adjust the ends.

Hi Kayaker,
You can also copy the line up to the point and adjust the ends.
Thanks guys,
Once I transfer these processes to the temporary object I like to save the object into the Wall Macro Library found in Wall Design. It just make it so easy to position the object from the Wall Marco. Just remember that you have to go to D-CAM to reprocess the beams.
Hi Kayaker,
Here is another way that I would rather use. This time I created some assisting geometry in D-CAM. Next I created the drilling using 3-04-3 just as you originally did except I only created the drilling in one location. Now I created a temporary object and transferred all the drillings to the object as a #4 process. Then I deleted the original drillings on the beams and moved the object to the correct drilling location and copied another one to the second location. Now you can save this object into the d-cam library or wall design and position it where you like and reprocess with 3-1-9. You can then delete the temporary object if needed.
Hi Kayaker,
I created the drillings a little different. First I laid out some assisting geometry in wall design and used D-CAM premium to copy the lines to the beam center for locating the exact position of the drillings. You can also do the same with your D-CAM premium but those that do not have premium can easily create and copy points instead. Next I used 3-04-5 & 3-04-6 to create the drillings.
Kayaker,
Couple ways to do that.
One way is to select the first two points in the direction parallel to the top chord (top and bottom of rafter) and then select the third point where you want the dimension to. You will then have to delete the one unnecessary dimension. You could also right click on the 9'-8 1/2" dimension and select "Insert Dim"
Hi Kayaker,
One more item to clear up. When we say a scale of 1:0 we mean a scale of 0.000. I you want a scale of one to one we show it as 1:1. When you output a drawing you have three choices beside "Round Scale" as seen in the picture below.
1. None = No predefined scale meaning that the scale will automatically be chosen to fit the drawing into the paper size.
2. Value = You can predefine the scale so it rounds to the closes number set. e.g. if I set the value to 8 the program will automatically fit the drawing on the paper size and round up to the closest scale of 8's. 8,16,24,32,40,48, etc.
3. Fixed Value = The drawing will be scaled at the exact value you select.
If you wanted a scale of 1:1 then you would input 1 under "Fixed Value". Depending on what you would like to display with a 1:1 scale you may need a very large paper size!
Hi Kayaker,
Just so we are clear, all previous template work we have done together had a scale of 0 as seen in the attached picture. This allows a drawing to be automatically blown up to fit just inside the edges of the view port.
Please double check that your view port's scale is set to 0 by starting a new drawing in 2D and select the template that you would like to use. Is the scale set to 0? If not change it to 0 and save this drawing as your new template. Now go back to the construction program and try outputting a drawing to this template. Let me know how it works.
Hi Kayaker,
I did the same method as Planer described but used an extra step just for double checking.
I use Firefox and under Tools-Settings I find this option.
Hi Dan,
It may be easier to cut the beam shorter with 3-4-1 "General". No need to explode either.
Hi Kayaker,
If the beams are not going to me cut on a cnc machine one option that may work is to first cut the brace longer and then use 2-7-1 "Intersect".
Hi Kayaker,
Yes, you can have the lamination's run with the length of the beam but you cannot have the lamination's follow the arc.
When asked for "Extrusion Direction" select "Width". After this you will be asked "Select two points for direction of length (x): This is where you decide what direction you want the lamination's to run.
Hi Dan,
Please contact your sales representative directly for all software version updates.
Hi Peter,
With version 7.03 and newer you have the option to store the "Object Designation". You can change the object designation of every beam to whatever you like and save this into a drawing. So it is possible to get the beam dimensions on a drawing from D-CAM. I should also say that you can leave the "611/" etc. in front of your object designation. Example 611/8x8, this way you still have the ability to filter out all posts, rafters, etc. You can check this out here:

Here is an example to create a timber list using project data and how to copy it into the 2D drawing:

Hi Peter,
Beam dimension are not available in D-CAM but rather wall, floor and roof. You can create virtually any timber list with project data and copy it into your drawing.
Here is also some imperial settings I use and the result with rows and columns.
Hi Vilmantas,
Did you try using 3-04-5 & 3-04-6? They are very straight forward and I would suggest to start with them and let us know if you need help.
Hi Dan,
Normally if the joinery is parametric then it should all move together with the brace. Please attach the position and we can have a look at it.
