  • I'm just curious to when you are going to fix the output to PLANCAD
so we can produce 2D shop drawings in imperial instead of metric??
This is extremely fustrating when I have to send drawings to AutoCAD
and have to waste valuable time to redo all the dimensions because the
dimension information is usually scrambled up.

I have also found a problem with the 3D DXF output command in
D-CAM. There should be a scaling factor that allows you to scale the
model back to a imperial size when outputting to AutoCAD for example.
When you DXF a drawing into Dietrichs there is a scale factor that allows
you to ajust, but nothing for output. Can someone please fix this.

    Thanks

    Greg

  • Hi Greg,

in D-CAD 2D (PlanCAD) you can have your dimensions in any unit system you like. You will find the Dimension settings in 5 Dimension - 1 settings.
There you can define your own dimension style with fonts, fontsize (on paper, regardless of the scale), and UNITS.
For Units you have the options meter, centi meter, milli meter, architectural (metric), inches, feet - inches. If you go to ft-in you can define the fraction you want to round your dimensions to.
If you make a new drawing template you can define your default dimension style in the view port settings. New drawings will the be automatically dimensioned in your own dimension style.

We already had a thread discussing the 3D DXF output. A scaling factor is on the list. Meanwhile the 3D DXF is created in meters, and you have to scale in AutoCAD to get to inches.

Hope that helps, and you don't have to mess around in AutoCAD any more.
