I think the turorials maybe can be downloaded from Dietrichs webpage?? But I am not sure.

I just use Dicam 2-08 - it's relative simple, and will probably work.
-
- by item number: the part will get the color, that is defined in the database item.
If I use this - I should go to material database and change colorset, just above textureset to blue, for all steel materials???

Hi.
I thought that we could share our experiences with version 7.02, and gather information about problems in this version. Because to me it seems to have the exact same problems as I experienced in 6.02.
1) C:\Dietrichs06\Windat\DHPdat.ini dissapears once in a while, so the program cannot be started. The file is renamed to DHPdat.new and can be renamed back to DHPdat.ini.
2) Some times D-Cad will not start and makes it necessary to shut down the program from task manager, because the program freezes and don't answer. This is after showing something in OpenGl - then D-Cad can't be started.
Se also topic about problems in 6.02 for deeper explanations.

I have two walls, I would like to assemble into one wall, so that also the windows and doors from the one wall now belongs to the long wall. Has this become possible in version 7.02??
-
So it is not possible to activate a number of items in D-Cam (as those that belongs to a dormer t.ex.) and calculate weight and point of gravity of these in D-cam activated items??? If not, this could be next step in next version.

You're right - my calculations show that the strength of the beam is ok, but deformation is a little bit too much (normally it is ok to evaluate deformation for dead load alone and for variable load alone) - so the stiffness is just ok. But it's a long beam and wood will settle over time and I wanted to add some extra security for strength and stiffness. Of course it is some extra work to make the girder part, but not much. Sorry that the calculation is in Danish. I haven't yet had the time to translate this excel program.
The nice thing is though, is, it is free (assuming your time isn't worth anything...) Doing the calculation in Excel, I don't think I will do that - first of all because I don't have the time, secondly my time is absolutely not free of charge. A few weeks after I started in this job, my boss still wondered how I managed to convince him to give me that salary...
I didn't think about that, if I analyze the girder structure I could combine the moments of inertia with the OSB from the box beam part - pretty good idea.
But still - I would love to make that calculation with all parts together in a FEM analysis!!

-
I have actually calculated the box-beam part of the beam, without killing my calculator (I programmed a Excel program to do it). These calculations are based on a box beam with top and bottom flange of wood, and side flanges of x layers of OSB, glued to the bottom and top flanges. It is basically the same calculation as for a I-beam. And yes - even though I am a clever engineer (
) it took me a while to read and understand the formulas behind and to put it into the Excel sheet. But it would be even worse with mechanical connections as nails/screws and the strength and stiffness of the beam would not be as good. I also know how to calculate the girder beam part, with a software (QSE), but I don't have that software at hand. For me the very interesting part would be to calculate the combinated beam to see how good the design actually is. I think it might be possible with Robobat software or similar FEM analysis software. -
And I guess that this function also calculates the weight of the wall element??
-
Hi Der_Planer. Thank you for your answers. I will consider these options in the next house.

Nice models!!
I have seen a few wood frame models in Denmark, not timberframe (in the american sence of the word) I think, but normal wood houses. But they was made by architecths. -
Hmmm. Maybe not many use the static software?? Or maybe people use other ways, perhaps by exporting Dietrichs structure to other engineering software. Let me hear about your experiences.
-
  ha, ha, somebody's in the mood to be funny...
Another question: Does this function take windows and doors into account with some approximate weight?? And can this be switched on and off - and can different layers be switched on and off?? In a production lines there can be different lifting situations - one with only wood frame and gypsum, one with everything including facade, windows and doors - and perhaps other situations in between.
-
You are not doing anything wrong. The steel has another color then the layer and so the steel did get a fix color but not the color 'from layer'.
You can switch off all layers exccapt the layer -15. Then you select the function to change the properties of the lines. Pick all lines with option 'window' and change the color. This method I know. Thanks anyway...

I think, it's easier to change the steel color in Dicam by setting a 'steel filter' and set volume info: line color 'blue'.
How, why, when, tell me, tell me....

-
Ok - to put the steel - or other things in another layer, I can work with now. But for example, when I have steel in layer -15, and I have put the wall drawing into PlanCad, the steel is brown as the wood. When I go into layers I expect that I can change layer -15 to blue and then all steel is blue on the drawing. But no, it remains brown. What do I do wrong??
-
Aaaarrrrggghhhh - why allways when I ask about something - there is an easy answer - in another version of the program than that one I have!!???

-
Are there any smart method to calculate the point of gravity for wall elements with wood, steel, windows, doors etc. - perhaps with information imported from Dietrichs???
Perhaps some other program if not possible in Dietrichs? -
Hi.
See attached picture. This is a combination between a box-beam and a girder-beam. Is it possible with Dietrichs static software to calculate the strength of this structure as a beam???
-
There a few things that could be. Normally when you create a dxf drawing you should first explode the dwg drawing and then save it to dxf version 2000. Another thing is that you should close the autocad program before importing in Dietrichs.
-
Oh - you cannot change the MOS belonging of a wall volume??
