I have two programs that I have used, at times. One is Autodesk Design review 2010, and the other is DWG TrueView 2010.
Both can be downloaded for free I believe. I'm not sure if you can do what you want with these but you can view plans with them.

I was sent a pdf and I had to convert it to dxf so I could make measurements.
To measure I had to import the dxf so scale was off. -
Well, I tried importing my dxf by inch and the measurement was wrong.
I tried importing my dxf by feet and the measurement was wrong.
I didn't know what scale to use so I had to resize. That is what I did and it came out right. That's all I can say.
-
I think if you divide one number by the other number you get the scale factor to use to convert a smaller scaled drawing to the larger scale.
I used this yesterday. I imported a dxf into another drawing program that I use, and then measured a line that the drawing said was 4' 7". And my measurement was 16' 8" so I converted both to inches, that is 48+7=55 and then 192+8=200. I divided 55 by 200 and got .275. So I told my program to resize by a factor of .275 and it did. My measure of 4' 7" matched.
This is how I do it. It should work easier with metric....

One solution would be to add a scale line to your drawing. When they import it they can check the scale line and see if they have imported it correctly to the scale you sent out.
The should be able to "resize" their import to the correct scale once they measure your scale line 0mm________________25mm for example -
Peter:
I was able to make this work in my version 9.04.Let me know if I can help you in any way....
-
What version are you using?
-
I had to change card to get them to go away....
-
I'm not sure if I completely understand your question.
But when I draw in 3d in wire frame mode, I usually like the model in this position. See attached.
You can save your view positions and use them as favorites in D-CAM with command 9-7.
I hope that helps you.
-
If you want to show a joint or connection that is apart, you have to remove the "$" sign from the joint in D-CAM 3-1-1 by highlighting the joint and then selecting "explode".
This will remove the dynamic link of the joint, then you can move by value the two joining pieces apart. See attached. You can then do the same thing with larger frames pieces to show how it would be put together like you're second picture.
-
Thanks for posting it... happy holidays...
-
I have only done it once, and I'm not sure if I can give you the proper instructions of how to do it.
You must have D-CAM premium to create one.
Do you have premium?
Command are under 3-2-6.
If they are grayed out and you can't open them then you can't create one.

It was my first time with log walls with butt and pass corner connections.
You may find others have done this another way.
Or there maybe a smart tag that will do it.
If not you could create your own smart tag and then it will be fast and easy. -
Recently I drew a log cabin.
To do it I made wall the thickness of the logs in the ground plan section.
Then in wall design I selected the log from the database and inserted them in wall design.
I manually cut them longer to make the corners as my design was called "butt and pass".
You should/may find this shape log in your database.
Good luck. -
The only solution I can think of to do this is to create several objects and assign colors to them and see what looks like a match.
Like this:
-
I believe what you need to do is to access/open your data base from your desktop (outside of the program) first before you try to open it from within the program administration window or some place else "inside" the program.

You next choice would be to make up a glulam yourself out of Douglas fir pieces and save it to your library.....
That's the best I can think of right now.... -
I did this and changed the texture to oak and it saved the lines....
-
If you select object info 2-08, and select the beam under "Texture set" you can change the texture set of the beam to look like Douglas fir if you choose a texture set that, to you, looks like Douglas fir.
