  • I would like to place my house on a ground plan to see how the house fits on that ground - or if another ground is better.

What would be the easiest way to do it? To import a scanned picture of the grounds into Dietrichs or to export the ground floor plan to AutoCad and into AutoCad insert the picture of the ground(s)??

    Hi Thorvald,

I don't think, you have a dxf ground plan? It would be easy to import it into Dietrich's. If you only have a jpg-ground plan, you'd better work with a photo-software. The only difficulty is the scale. Therefore create a 500 or 1000 meter beam to calibrate your building to the picture plan. Then push, copy, turn your building where ever you want. Be sure to have a transparent background colour!

In the example I copied an existing building and handled it with PaintShopPro:

  • I understand your suggestion - but I think I would rather like to work with it in a drawing program. I have only possibilty to scan a paperprint of the grounds - but when I have that, I can insert the picture in AutoCad and scale it to 1:1 (or whatever). This AutoCad drawing I could turn into DXF and import in Dietrichs - but the question is where it would be most easy to move around with the building.

Because in Dietrichs I can not move around with the building very easy (I think?). But perhaps I can group the imported DXF and then move around with that.

In Autocad - if I import the groundplan of the building from Dietrichs to the drawing where I have imported the picture of the grounds, then maybe it would be more easy to move around with it?

  • Well now I did it with AutoCad, and I also got another idea. Import the picture in AutoCad in the correct scale and print it. Print the house in the same scale as you printed the ground(s). Cut out the house with a scissor and now you can try out the house on the grounds, mirror it, turn it etc. Very nice. :) But the grounds are maybe a little to small for my house (or the house is too big.....?) But with the biggest grounds it might be ok or maybe I can convince my wife that we don't need so many rooms....
