  • hi, i am on my first-ever dietrich's project. i am working on it both at home and the office, keeping the project folder in a zip drive for portability.

i just found that if i create a roof surface (for example) at the office computer when i go home and try to edit it it is not there.

is there anyway to migrate data such as this with the project itself?

I am not realy sure which data do you mean but I think the data you need is in directory HRB\ENG. Other data you perhaps need on both computers is in directory WINVOR\ENG and DBA\ENG.
You could copy this directories on your ZIP drive and change the paths in our menu (function 5-3).
But you should be carefully with this. If your data gets lost...

You can keep the paths on bothe computers as they are and just copy the data from your ZIP drive to both computers. So you just transport the data with the ZIP drive and you work on the normal harddisk.

  • Hello,
I think jorge will copy his project from the office computer to his copmputer at home. He can´t find the project after copying it, maybe he doesn´t know, the right way to transfer a project from one to another "office" ;)

  • hi,

thanks for your answers. i did see an old post about somebody "losing" the roof properties and going into the HBR folder, i am not sure whether i should go into the GER subfolder or the ENG. in any case i was hoping for a safer and more "automatic" solution

this morning i thought perhaps packing the project when i leave either computer may take these properties with it (i believe roof line properties and wall properties fall under the same category?) would this work?

    cheers,

  • Hi again joachim,

are there written references about what the subfolders and file extensions within the dietrich's folder mean? for example .RAF, .

    .HRB etc?

    thnks

  • hi,

i understand your concern, but let me assure you it is not my intent to play with files. i am just trying to make my projects portable since i move around a lot. would packing a project bring along all the pertinent info and data along with it?

if not, which info would be missing (i have already established roof surface and roof line properties don't come along with the project)

    thank you again

I do not realy understand your problem. I move all my projects too between company and home.
If you move the whole project you should have everything which is part of the project (position, drawings, lists). If you too move the files I told you above you too have all your settings you are using.

  • hi Joachim,

    thanks for your patience.

I am on my way home and I'll do as per your quote

    Zitat von Joachim Neumann

...I think the data you need is in directory HRB\ENG. Other data ...is in directory WINVOR\ENG and DBA\ENG....

. I will copy these folders from within my dietrichs folder at the office computer into my dietrichs folder my home computer.

I'll let you know how it went. thank you again.

    Hi jorge,

be careful, there are some files, that contain path names. There will be no problem, if you have installed the Dietrich's software in exactly the same path names at home and office pc. Otherwise you especially should not copy the file named dhpdat.ini.

There are other files with path names inside, for example, where to save K2 machine files.

  • success!!

so far, so good. thank you all. Planer, i will be careful not to re-path anything, i have the same path set-up on both computers for all the software and files i use

Perhaps someday wall build up, roof build up, ceiling build up, and construction guidelines files will automatically move along with projects from one computer to the next... (wish list?)

    thank you all again.

    Hi jorge,

this files newer will move automaticaly with the project because they are not necessary to open the project and perhaps you give the project to someone other who should not get all your settings. But we will get a much more better way to transfer data from one computer to another. ;)
